Workspaces

A workspace is a saved collection of layers and their settings (visibility, opacity, order). Workspaces let you quickly switch between different layer configurations without having to add and remove layers each time.

The Workspace Panel

The workspace panel is a collapsible accordion at the top of the right sidebar (Workspaces & Layers panel). It shows:

  • The active workspace name with a badge indicating whether it is a personal () or universal () workspace
  • A dropdown selector to switch between workspaces
  • A toolbar with workspace actions

Switching Workspaces

  1. Open the workspace accordion (click the header if collapsed)
  2. Click the workspace dropdown
  3. Use the filter to search by name, or scroll through the list
  4. Click a workspace to activate it — the map will reload with that workspace's layers

Each workspace in the list shows:

  • A briefcase icon with a badge (globe for universal, user for personal)
  • The workspace name and description
  • A star icon () if it is your startup workspace

WARNING

The Default workspace cannot be edited, deleted, or saved to. Use Save As to create a personal copy.

Creating a Workspace

  1. Click the New button ()
  2. In the dialog, enter a workspace name (required) and optional description
  3. Optionally check Startup workspace to load this workspace automatically on login
  4. Click Save

The new workspace will be empty — use the Layer Repository to add layers.

Saving Changes

When you add, remove, or reorder layers in your workspace, the changes are not automatically saved. To persist your changes:

  • Click Save () to update the active workspace
  • Click Save As () to save as a new workspace

If you switch workspaces or reload without saving, your changes will be lost.

Startup Workspace

You can designate one workspace as your startup workspace — it will load automatically when you open the application.

To set or clear the startup workspace, click the star button () next to the workspace dropdown.

Universal Workspaces

Administrators can create universal workspaces that are shared with users in a specific role. Universal workspaces have a globe badge and cannot be modified or deleted by regular users.

If you have the appropriate permission, the workspace dialog will show additional options when creating a universal workspace:

  • Universal Role — which role sees this workspace
  • Universal Accounts — specific accounts that can access it
  • Base Layers and Default Base Layer selection with opacity
  • Layer list with per-layer visibility, opacity, active layer, and drag-and-drop ordering
