Export Layers

The Export wizard lets you download layer data in a variety of GIS and spreadsheet formats. You choose the layer, the columns, an optional filter, the area to export, and the output format — the export then runs as a background job that you can download when it finishes.

Opening the Export Wizard

Click the Export button () in the top toolbar of the map panel. The Export Layer wizard opens.

Exporting requires the appropriate permission, and some layers may not be exportable depending on their configuration.

Step 1 — Introduction

The wizard explains the steps ahead:

• Select a layer from the available layers to export
• Select an extent/area to export
• Select the target format

Click Next to continue.

Step 2 — Source

Choose what to export:

• Layer — select the layer to export from the list of available layers
• Export Columns — optionally limit the export to specific columns (the default is all columns)
• Filter — optionally select one of the layer's predefined filters
• Search — optionally enter a search value to narrow down the records
• Extent / area — choose which features to include:

Option	What is exported
Features within	Features inside an area you specify
Visible extent	Features inside the map area currently on screen
Selected extent	Features inside a rectangle you draw/resize on the map
Selected Features	Only the features currently selected on the map
All Features	Every feature in the layer (subject to filters)

TIP

When you choose Selected extent, the dialog minimises so you can resize the selection rectangle on the map. When you choose Visible extent, zoom the map to the area you want first — then expand the Export Layer dialog again to continue.

Step 3 — Output

Choose how to export:

• Name — a name for the exported file
• Format — the output format:

Format	Description
Shapefile	ESRI Shapefile format
GeoJSON	GeoJSON format
KML / KMZ	Google Earth format (KMZ is compressed)
DXF	AutoCAD DXF format
GPX	GPS Exchange format (point and line geometries only)
CSV	Comma-separated values
XLSX	Microsoft Excel format

• Projection — the coordinate system for the output, e.g. EPSG:4326 — WGS 84 (lat/lon, global)

Step 4 — Start the Export

Click Start to begin the export job. The export runs as a background job — you can keep working (or even close your browser) while it processes. You will receive an email when the job starts and another when it completes.

Downloading the Result

1. Click the arrow next to the Export button in the top toolbar and choose Export Jobs (the wizard's footer also has a Jobs button)
2. Locate your completed job in the list
3. Click the Download button () to save the exported file
