Searching

The Search panel lives in the left (West) panel and lets you find places and zoom straight to them — type an address, pick a suggestion, and the map flies to the location.

Choosing What to Search

The Search Using dropdown selects the type of search. The standard option is Google Street Addresses — searching the Google address index. Depending on your deployment, additional search types may be listed (for example your organisation's own address dataset, suburbs, towns, farms, or stand numbers).

Some search types show extra input fields — for example a stand or portion number — to narrow the search down.

Running a Search

1. Choose a search type in Search Using
2. Start typing in the search box — suggestions appear as you type
3. Pick a suggestion, or press Enter (or click the search button) to search for what you typed

The map zooms to the result and marks the location with a location point.

• Click the clear button () or press Escape in the search box to clear the search text
• The marker stays on the map so you can keep track of the location while you work

The Selected Location Card

When a search succeeds, a card at the top of the panel shows the matched address or place. Click the card to re-centre the map on the location at any time.

TIP

Right-clicking anywhere on the map and choosing Copy Coordinates is a quick way to capture the exact coordinates of a location you found. See Map Navigation.

Panel Tips

• The Search panel can be collapsed like any other panel — drag its gutter or click the caret in its header
• On smaller screens the panel may start collapsed to give the map more room
• If your deployment adds extra tools (weather, nearby facilities, etc.), they appear as additional tabs in the same West panel
